Barbara Brierley Maxwell Gordon, 85 of American Fork, passed away peacefully in her home on December 23, 2018. She was born on February 3, 1933, to James & Sarah Ann Brierley in Salt Lake City, UT. She married Lawrence Ray Maxwell Feb. 11, 1952, in the Salt Lake LDS temple, & later divorced. She married Arval Park Gordon on January 2, 1979, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as the Choir Director in the Hillcrest Ward & working at the Provo & Mt. Timpanogos Temples for nearly 30 years. She has always cherished the lifelong friendships she created & nurtured through her time in American Fork & Alpine, as well as her friendships from Sygnetics, weight watchers, & the Temple. Family was everything to Barbara & she loved spending time with them.

Barbara is survived; children Ray (Linda) Maxwell, Pleasant Grove; James Maxwell, Tabiona; Cherie’ (Scott) Carlisle, Afton, WY; David Maxwell, Salt Lake City; Lawrence (Laura) Maxwell, Tabiona; Mary Ann (Scott) Hebbert, Bethel, PA; Robert (Karla) Maxwell, Kearns; Michelle (Dave) Smith, Perry; step-children; William (Carol) Gordon, Salt Lake City; Christine (Gary) Eccles, Taylorsville; Samuel (Amy) Gordon, Show Low, AZ; Linda Ilene Stone, Bountiful; Kathy (daughter-in-law) Gordon, Taylorsville; Patricia (Larry) Crystal, Roosevelt; Danny (Angie) Gordon, Salt Lake City; With an hundreds of Grandchildren & Great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother & sister, her husband Arval, & step-son Leslie.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29th at 12 pm in the Hillcrest 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 949 N. 540 W. American Fork.
